What does this site show?

World Climates shows the average weather for 4,250 places worldwide. Each city has its own climate page. You can see average high and low temperatures, rainfall, humidity, cloud cover and day length for every month of the year.

Where do the climate data come from?

All climate values come from NASA POWER. It combines satellite measurements with a weather-model reanalysis. We use the long-term averages for the years 2001 to 2025. Place names and populations come from GeoNames.

Are these averages the same as weather-station records?

No. The values describe a grid cell of about 50 km, not one weather station. In mountains and along coasts the real conditions in a town can differ. We correct the temperature for the height of the city, but not the rainfall.

How do I find the best time to visit a city?

Open the city page and look at the section about the best time to visit. It lists the months with pleasant temperatures and little rain. The rules behind it are explained on the page, so you can check them yourself.
